The Rooted Together Approach

Understanding what’s beneath the surface — and helping you better understand and support your child.

Parenting is rarely just about finding the right strategy. Our approach begins by looking at the bigger picture: your child’s development, temperament, regulation, and individual needs; your own experiences and capacity; and the relationship between you. From there, we work together to create practical, compassionate ways forward that feel realistic for your family.

We look at the whole relationship

A child’s needs, a parent’s wellbeing, and the relationship between them are deeply connected. We look at all three — because meaningful change is more likely when the whole relationship is supported.

How we create change together

Diagram illustrating a mindful, contemplative process with five steps: 1. Support connection and co-regulation, represented by a person sitting cross-legged; 2. Observe, symbolized by an eye; 3. Open curiosity, depicted by a plant; 4. Tune in, shown as a heart; 5. Pathize, illustrated by hands holding a heart. Central text states, "A thoughtful, collaborative process."

We may slow things down to understand what’s happening beneath a difficult moment, explore patterns in your child’s behaviour, make space for your own stress and reactions, and build practical strategies that fit your family.

The goal isn’t perfect parenting. It’s greater understanding, stronger connection, and more confidence moving forward.

What this can look like in our work together

Parenting can feel complicated, especially when the strategies you’ve tried aren’t working. Together, we can make sense of what’s happening, find an approach that fits your family, and help you feel more confident and connected along the way.

You don’t have to have it all figured out.
